Enabling and using the FreeBusy integration

Integrate Lever with FreeBusy to automate interview scheduling for 1:1 and group interviews and keep your calendar and Lever in sync for scheduled interviews. For more information refer to the FreeBusy website

Setting up the FreeBusy integration


You must be a team or organization with admin rights in FreeBusy to install this integration.

  • On the Integrations page, click Link an integration

  • Locate the Lever listing and click Add integration
  • On the modal, sign in with your Lever account.

  • Review the list of requested permissions and click Accept

  • Verify that the Lever integration appears on your FreeBusy Integration page

Using the FreeBusy integration

Create a booking page to automate interview scheduling for a Lever job posting

Complete the following steps to setup a booking page to allow candidates to self-schedule interviews for a Lever job posting:

  • In FreeBusy, go to Bookings
  • Click Edit Appointment Type for the appointment type that you want to use for a specific job posting (e.g. Senior Backend Engineer)

  • If you do not already have a booking page and appointment type you can create one by clicking Add New.
    • You can use the Lever integration with both automatic availability and manual availability.

  • On the dropdown field labeled, “Link these bookings to this Lever item,” select the job posting you want to enable candidate self-booking for.
    • This field only appears if you have already integrated with Lever.
  • Click Save

Automate interview scheduling for Lever job posting with FreeBusy

  • Click Copy Booking Link for the appointment type that you created for the Lever job posting

  • Paste the booking link into the Lever email template that you send to candidates. You can also send the link via any other means like chat or text message.
  • The candidate will pick an available date and time for the interview and fill out additional information you choose to collect via the booking form. 
    • You can use the Lever integration with both automatic availability and manual availability. 

  • If the candidate does not already exist in Lever, the FreeBusy integration will automatically create an opportunity in Lever. Any opportunities auto-created by FreeBusy will be tagged “FreeBusy” so you can easily identify any candidates that were created through integration. 

  • FreeBusy will automatically schedule an interview in Lever associated with the job posting and the candidate opportunity.

Reschedule Lever interview using FreeBusy

  • If you need to reschedule the interview, open the opportunity in Lever and click the View In External App button to be redirected to FreeBusy. 
  • In FreeBusy, propose alternate times to the candidate. 

  • Once rescheduled, the new interview time will be reflected on the Lever opportunity

Disabling the FreeBusy integration

  1. In Lever navigate to Settings > Integrations and API
  2. Under the Authorized Apps tab, locate the FreeBusy app
  3. Click Revoke access to disable the integration
