Data Explorer allows you to build custom charts to visualize data through, and "Quick Start" charts provide a simple place to begin from. This article walks through how to create two commonly used reports based on the 'Current Pipeline' Quick Start chart - candidates by posting and candidates by source. If you have not yet done so, we recommend reading our help articles on building and managing charts and dashboards using Data Explorer before proceeding:

Accessing Quick Start charts

To access Data Explorer Quick Start options:

  • Navigate to Visual Insights via the platform header.
  • Click the chevron (>) to expand the navigation menu and select Data ExplorerOpportunities
    • Depending on the size of your browser window you may need to scroll within the navigation menu or collapse the 'Dashboard' section of the menu to reveal all Quick Start options

Creating a 'current candidates by posting' chart

To create a chart that shows the distribution of candidates currently in your pipeline broken down by posting:

  • Select the 'Current Pipeline' Quick Start option
  • In the field picker search bar, type "posting title"
  • Under 'posting attributes' select the 'Posting title' field to add to the 'Data' section of the chart builder

  • In the 'Data' section of the chart builder, click the gear icon (⛭) in the 'Common attributes Current stage' header and select the Pivot option
  • Click the Run button at the top of the chart builder

The resulting visualization should show you the distribution of candidates' opportunities currently in your pipeline, grouped by posting.

To modify the visualization:

  • Click the Edit button in the header of the 'Visualization' section of the chart builder
  • For example, in the image below, the column chart visualization has been modified so that series are stacked and the legend is aligned to the left

To learn how to modify custom chart visualizations, refer to our help article on building custom charts in Data Explorer.

Although the visualization may appear compressed in the chart builder, it will be expanded to full view when the chart is saved to a dashboard or as a Look.

Creating a 'current candidates by sources' chart

To create a chart that shows the distribution of candidates currently in your pipeline broken down by source:

  • Select the 'Current Pipeline' Quick Start option
  • In the field picker search bar, type "opportunity source"
  • Under 'sources (1:n)' select the 'Opportunity source (1:n)' field to add to the 'Data' section of the chart builder

  • In the 'Data' section of the chart builder, click the gear icon (⛭) in the 'Common attributes Current stage' header and select the Pivot option
  • Click the Run button at the top of the chart builder

The resulting visualization should show you the distribution of candidates' opportunities currently in your pipeline, grouped by source.

To modify the visualization:

  • Click the Edit button in the header of the 'Visualization' section of the chart builder
  • For example, in the image below, the column chart visualization has been modified so that series are stacked, the legend is aligned to the right, and chart values are labelled

To learn how to modify custom chart visualizations, refer to our help article on building custom charts in Data Explorer.

Although the visualization may appear compressed in the chart builder, it will be expanded to full view when the chart is saved to a dashboard or as a Look.

Charts for created and hired opportunities broken down by source can be found on the 'Advanced' page of the Pipeline dashboard. To learn more, refer to our Pipeline dashboard help article.
