ZipRecruiter enables Lever customers to share jobs to ZipRecruiter through a dedicated feed that supports Quick Apply (ZipApply) screening questions, EEO forms, and disposition sync—making it easier for candidates to apply, helping employers to collect key information up front, and share candidate status with ZipRecruiter.
Enabling the ZipRecruiter Integration
You must have a ZipRecruiter job feed setup to use this integration. Any trial/limited feed customers do not have access to a ZipRecruiter job feed.
Navigate to Settings > Integrations and API, scroll to the Job boards section, and click the ZipRecruiter toggle.
- If you wish to allow candidates to apply to job postings with their ZipRecruiter resume without leaving ZipRecruiter, select the Enable ZipApply for all jobs checkbox.
- Updating this configuration option can take up to six hours for the change to be reflected on ZipRecruiter.
- If you leave this option unselected, your open external job postings will still be published to ZipRecruiter when the integration is enabled. Jump to the section of this article on candidate applications for more information.
- If you wish to share candidate statuses in Lever with ZipRecruiter, click the Sync Candidate dispositions with ZipRecruiter checkbox. Jump to the section of this article on configuring disposition sync for more information. Disposition data helps train ZipRecruiter's matching algorithm to provide better quality candidates over time.
Click Done.
The ZipRecruiter integration cannot be enabled on a per-job basis. Once enabled, all open external postings in your LeverTRM instance will be published to ZipRecruiter.
When enabling the integration for the first time, it can take up to 30 business days for your job data to be reviewed and approved before the integration becomes active. The review processing time begins once your Lever account has external (i.e., public) postings with job descriptions. In most cases, you will not need to take any action to verify your account, but our support team may contact you if any issues occur.
Configuring Disposition Sync
When configuring your ZipRecruiter integration settings, you can opt in/out of enabling disposition sync. You will also have the option to map your Lever statuses to the corresponding ZipRecruiter states.
Mapping states from Lever to ZipRecruiter
In the ZipRecruiter integration settings, click VIEW MAPPINGS to open a drawer on the right-hand side of the page. Map the ZipRecruiter states with the corresponding Lever states (pipeline stages and archive reasons). Note that the 'RECEIVED', 'HIRED', AND 'REJECTED' ZipRecruiter states have default mappings that cannot be changed, but you may add custom mappings to any of the ZipRecruiter states. After mapping these values, click SAVE MAPPINGS. The candidate state in Lever will be synced with ZipRecruiter to improve visibility on the ZipRecruiter platform.
ZipRecruiter does not show the application statuses to candidates. The disposition information shared with ZipRecruiter is primarily used for improving job visibility and job recommendations to candidates.
Posting jobs directly to ZipRecruiter
Once the integration has been enabled, all of your existing open and externally visible postings will be published on ZipRecruiter, provided they meet ZipRecruiter’s terms, conditions, quality standards, and usage limits. ZipRecruiter will also appear as a job board option in the posting editor when creating and updating job postings. Publishing new postings (and updates to existing postings) can take up to six hours to be reflected on ZipRecruiter.
Please note that ZipRecruiter will only display Lever job postings that have been configured for external distribution. Unlisted, draft, and internal-only postings are excluded from the ZipRecruiter job feed until they are externally available. To check the posting distribution, click the posting state menu at the top of the posting editor.
How ZipRecruiter Ingests Job Postings from Lever
When ingesting a posting from Lever, ZipRecruiter reads the following fields from the posting:
- Job title
- Location type
- Location
- Department/team
- Salary range
- Job description
- Custom application questions
The contents of these fields will dictate the search criteria by which the posting will be discoverable on ZipRecruiter. For information you can include in these fields, refer to our help article on creating job postings.
How ZipRecruiter Ingests Multi-location Postings from Lever
If you use Lever’s ZipRecruiter Integration, jobs will be published from Lever to ZipRecruiter with no additional steps. If you are not using the Lever ZipRecruiter integration, please speak with your ZipRecruiter account representative to discuss the ingestion of multi-location postings.
A multi-location job will be distributed as individual postings for each location. For example, if you have a multi-location job in Lever advertised in New York, New York, and Austin, Texas, ZipRecruiter will distribute it as two separate jobs - one posting for each location.
When applicants apply to either job, they’ll be redirected to your job site to apply for the same job initially advertised.
If you use ZipApply (where applicants complete the application within ZipRecruiter), the preferred location question will appear in the application form. This preferred location question can be made mandatory or not mandatory - learn more in our help article on creating and managing multi-location postings.
Candidates Applying via Quick Apply (ZipApply)
If you disabled ZipApply during integration configuration (see above), your open external job postings will still be sent to ZipRecruiter. Visitors to your job postings on ZipRecruiter will be routed to the application on your Lever job site. When ZipApply is enabled, visitors to your job postings on ZipRecruiter can complete their application form directly on ZipRecruiter via the Quick Apply button on the job listing. According to ZipRecruiter’s data, ZipApply Jobs receive 3x more candidates than external apply jobs.
Candidates applying via the Quick Apply button will be prompted to submit a resume (required or optional, as per your Lever Job Site settings) and respond to any custom questions or EEO survey questions added to the posting in Lever.
When the integration is enabled, job seekers can also view your postings in the ZipRecruiter app or on the ZipRecruiter site in their mobile device's browser for a seamless, mobile-friendly application experience.
Candidates who apply to job postings via ZipRecruiter will have opportunities added to the Applicant section of your pipeline. The opportunity will originate from 'Applied.' The primary source tag on the opportunity will be 'ZipRecruiter'. If the candidate applied via the Quick Apply button, the secondary source tag 'ZipApply' will be added to the opportunity.

What should I do if I cannot find my job on ZipRecruiter?
If you are unable to find your job on ZipRecruiter and it has been at least fifteen days since the integration has been enabled, proceed with the following troubleshooting steps:
- Read through ZipRecruiter's Job Posting Rules to ensure your jobs comply with ZipRecruiter's posting policies.
- Log in to your ZipRecruiter account to see if you can post your job(s) directly on ZipRecruiter. If so, you must close out that posting and contact your ZipRecruiter representative to ensure your jobs will begin receiving visibility through the Lever feed.
If you still cannot find your job on ZipRecruiter and/or need help navigating the above ZipRecruiter features, please contact your ZipRecruiter representative. If you do not have a ZipRecruiter representative, use the instructions on this form to contact ZipRecruiter support.
Can I push job postings from a single Lever instance to the ZipRecruiter pages of specific subsidiaries?
No. Lever sends all your externally published postings to ZipRecruiter in a single feed file. As a result, all postings from your Lever instance can only be fed to a single ZipRecruiter page. We recommend contacting ZipRecruiter to inquire about redirecting postings from a single Lever instance to specific ZipRecruiter pages. Alternatively, you may consider setting up a separate Lever instance for each subsidiary.
Can I select specific jobs to post to ZipRecruiter?
No. The job feed data that Lever sends to ZipRecruiter is required to contain all open external job postings visible on your Lever job site. For this reason, it is not possible to exclude specific open external postings from publication to ZipRecruiter when the integration is enabled.
Can I enable ZipApply only for specific jobs?
No. At this time, ZipApply is an account-level configuration option and applies to all open external job postings when enabled.
What happens if I do not select 'Enable ZipApply for all jobs'?
When this option is disabled, new postings and posting updates are still published to ZipRecruiter. However, candidates viewing postings on ZipRecruiter will be routed to your Lever job site when attempting to apply.
How does ZipRecruiter verify postings sent via Lever's job feed?
ZipRecruiter verifies postings by comparing the job feed sent from Lever to your public Lever job site. When running this comparison, ZipRecruiter will also check to ensure that each open external posting's location, as defined in Lever, can be matched to a valid one on ZipRecruiter. We recommend referring to ZipRecruiter's guidelines for entering job location information to troubleshoot cases where a location value cannot be matched appropriately.
Will enabling this integration cause any issues with the Lever job postings that I currently have published on ZipRecruiter?
No. When you first enable this integration, your postings on ZipRecruiter will not change until ZipRecruiter’s team has completed reviewing and verifying your job feed from Lever. Only after their review is complete (30 business days) will they switch to updating your postings from your Lever job feed. This process prevents duplicate postings when the integration is enabled.
Will ZipApply capture consent from candidates to be contacted about future opportunities in compliance with GDPR?
Yes. Applicants will be asked to provide consent to be contacted for future opportunities if the GDPR compliance settings in your Lever environment have been configured to capture candidate consent. Note that, while your Lever-hosted job site can be configured to take a candidate's location into account to determine whether permission is required, the consent question will be required for all ZipApply applicants, as Lever does not have access to a ZipRecruiter applicant's location data at the time of application submission. For more information, refer to our help article on configuring GDPR compliance.
Will candidates applying through ZipApply be asked EEO and Diversity survey questions?
Applicants will have the opportunity to respond to EEO survey questions during a ZipApply session if the EEO survey is enabled in Lever settings. See our help article Configuring and using equal employment opportunity (EEO) questions for more information. Diversity survey questions are not presented during a ZipApply session.
If ZipRecruiter is currently scraping my Lever job site to post my open jobs, will enabling this integration affect the scraping?
Yes. Within 30 days of enabling the integration, ZipRecruiter will stop scraping your Lever job site instead of using the integration to pull your jobs into ZipRecruiter. There will be no disruption in how your jobs appear on ZipRecruiter during this transition. Note that ZipRecruiter does not set up new scrapes of sites belonging to ATS partners for which there is a direct integration option. As such, if your Lever account was implemented in September 2025 or later, ZipRecruiter will not scrape your Lever job site even if you have not enabled the integration. For Lever accounts implemented before September 2025, if you enable the ZipRecruiter integration in Lever and then disable it later, ZipRecruiter will be unable to resume scraping of your Lever job site.
Will I incur fees from ZipRecruiter for using Lever's integration?
If you do not pay ZipRecruiter to advertise your jobs, you will not incur any new or additional fees from ZipRecruiter for using this integration.
