Lever’s Employee Referrals now include automated eligibility calculations and customizable expiration settings, reducing manual work for recruiters. Instead of manually verifying referral bonus eligibility, teams can rely on standardized rules to determine it automatically. Expiration settings ensure referrals remain valid for the right timeframe, keeping programs efficient and organized. These updates make referral management easier, more scalable, and more effective for employee-driven hiring.
Customizing Eligibility Settings
Recruiters no longer have to manually check whether a referral qualifies for a bonus. The system automatically applies standardized rules, ensuring accuracy and saving valuable time. Standardized eligibility calculations ensure fairness across all referrals, eliminating inconsistencies and making it easier to enforce company policies. With configurable expiration periods, teams can keep referrals active for the right timeframe, preventing missed opportunities and ensuring timely follow-ups.
To customize your team's eligibility settings, a user with the appropriate permissions must navigate to the settings page and locate the 'Advanced referrals' tab.
From this page, your team can decide on the number of days a referral stays eligible and select which 'eligibility model' your team would like to utilize. There will be two options for the model
- Candidate-based eligibility: Each employee is only eligible for a single candidate for a single job
- Job-based eligibility: An Employee is eligible for a candidate, regardless of the job they are hired into
Tracking Referrals
The enhanced system makes managing and tracking referrals at scale easier, reducing administrative overhead and giving recruiters better visibility into their pipeline.
Admin View
To begin tracking your team's referrals, an admin user can navigate to the Referrals section in Lever and then to the "All Referred candidates" page:
From this page, your admins will be provided insight into all referred candidates. Here, they can gather insight into the referral-specific information, such as which jobs they are referred for, the date they were referred, whether they are still eligible, and how long their eligibility remains. On this page, you will have two views you can use to navigate the referrals better. You will have the options for a 'list view' and a 'card view'.

Employee View
As a non-admin user, you will have a more restrictive view of the submitted referrals into your team's pipeline. Users with non-admin permissions can see the candidates they have referred and gather insights similar to those in the above view.
As with the Admin view, you will also have the options for a 'list view' and a 'card view.
