The ClearChecks integration allows you to order a background check on candidates automatically as you advance them to a selected stage.
This integration is designed to incorporate the background check process seamlessly into your workflow in Lever.

Setup the integration:
Authorize Lever integration from your ClearChecks account

Access role must be Super Admin in Lever to set up the integration. You must have a ClearChecks account to install this integration. If you are not a ClearChecks customer, contact sales@clearchecks.com to discuss custom packages or volume pricing. |
1. Log into your ClearChecks account, and navigate to Integrations & API. Click the 3rd Party Integrations tab, or refer to the ClearChecks integration settings.
2. Click the toggle button to enable the Lever Integration.
3. You will be prompted to enter your Lever credentials or use a SSO (single sign on) provider like Google or Microsoft to authorize the ClearChecks app. Click Accept.
How to configure the integration:
Select candidate stage & default package
Once you have authorized the Lever integration you will be asked to select which candidate stage you would like to trigger a background check. In this example, we have a stage called "Background Check".

Most Lever accounts will have a stage for a "Background Check", or you may have customized your stages and want to run a background check when the candidate is advanced to a different stage in your workflow. |
You must specify which background check package you would like to enable and set as the default.

For now, this is the only background check package you will be able to order automatically from Lever. Soon, ClearChecks will support Lever tags, which will allow you to add a tag corresponding to your different configured packages. The tags will be used to trigger an order from a stage change. However, you may select a base level package and always add additional checks to the report from within the ClearChecks report. |
Toggle webhook on from Lever
In order for ClearChecks to communicate with Lever, you must toggle on the Stage Change Webhook from within your Settings > Integrations and API > Webhooks page in Lever.
Turn this setting on, and you will see a webhook already created by ClearChecks. If you have other integrations, this may already be toggled on, so no further action is required.
The ClearChecks integration is now ready for use!

How to view status & review background checks
You can track the status of the background check through a tag on an opportunity. These tags can be filtered across all opportunities.
The status tags are:
- ClearChecks • Waiting for Applicant
- ClearChecks • In Progress
- ClearChecks • Clear Report
- ClearChecks • Review Report
- ClearChecks • Canceled
In addition, a note is added to the opportunity with a link to your reports once a background check order is placed:
Once a background check is complete:
- You will have a note added to the opportunity with a link to the background check
- A tag is created and added to the opportunity:
- ClearChecks • Clear Report
- ClearChecks • Review Report
You may filter and group candidates by these tags:
How to disable the integration:
1. Navigate to your Integrations & API Settings Page in Lever.
2. Under the Authorized Apps tab, locate the ClearChecks app.
3. Click Revoke Access to disable the integration.
