Brainner is a platform that automates resume screening by using AI to analyze and sort candidates based on recruiter criteria. It seamlessly integrates with Lever, automatically syncing job listings and candidate resumes. This guide will provide you with all the information you need to connect both solutions effectively. For more information refer to the Brainner website

Setting up the Brainner integration

You must be a team or organization with admin rights in Brainner to install this integration.

Check out Brainner's getting started video to learn how to configure the integration and start using the platform.

  • Log in to your Brainner account and click on your Profile icon on the bottom left side.
  • Click Settings
  • Click the ATS tab.
  • Select Lever from the list of integrations.
  • Sign-in to your Lever Admin account to connect both platforms.

  • On the modal, review the list of requested permissions and click Accept to authorize the integration.
  • As you can see from the permissions screenshot below, Brainner will require these permissions to import jobs and candidates automatically from Lever, and post the results to the candidate opportunity in Lever.

Congratulations! The connection between Brainner and Lever is active!

Configuring the Brainner integration

Although you have activated the connection, there are still a few remaining steps needed to complete the configuration.

  • After authorizing the integration, you will be redirected back to Brainner. The Settings window will appear automatically. If for any reason you were not redirected to the Settings window, you can navigate there by clicking on your Profile icon and then Settings.

Configure preferences

  • In the ATS tab, configure the integration settings and click Apply Changes.
    • When you start using Brainner, we suggest disabling the ‘Auto-generate jobs’ setting, as shown in the screenshot below. This enables you to manually import jobs, giving you better control over the job creation process in Brainner, while still ensuring that candidates are automatically received for those jobs.
    • If you enable all the settings, you will start receiving jobs and candidates automatically. Jobs will be sent from Lever automatically the first time that a candidate applies, regardless of whether it is old or new.

If you want to import both jobs and candidates manually, turn off all the settings and click Apply Changes
  • A window will open highlighting the next step to configuring the webhook in Lever.

Configure webhooks

The integration will automatically configure a webhook to notify Brainner when a new application is created in Lever. Once the webhook is enabled, Lever will communicate to Brainner the required information to send new jobs and candidates.

  • In Lever, go to Settings > Integrations and API > Webhooks.
  • Scroll down to the 'Applications Created' webhook.
  • If it is not already toggled, toggle the 'Applications Created' webhook on to enable it.

Using the Brainner integration

  • In Brainner, click on the briefcase, then click Import a Job.

  • Brainner will display a list of jobs available in Lever.
  • Select a job.
  • Click Import.

  • In the Criteria tab, you will find all the requirements automatically extracted from the Lever job description. It is important to check that the requirements meet your recruitment needs. You can add, delete, or modify any of the requirements.

  • If it is a new job and no candidates have applied yet, you will start receiving candidates automatically from Lever once new applications are processed in Lever.
  • For an existing job where candidates have already applied in Lever, click Import from Lever in the Candidates tab to sync candidates from Lever. After the initial import, any new candidates who apply will also be received automatically in Brainner.

  • Select if you would like to 'Re-evaluate existing candidates' or 'Ignore existing candidates'.
  • Click Import [X number] Candidates.

  • Candidates will be imported, analyzed, scored, and ranked automatically based on the defined criteria. The analysis will be displayed in a table format in Brainner and an individual report will be available for each candidate.
  • New candidates applying to the position in Lever will be imported, analyzed, and added to the report.
