If your organization's Lever package supports requisition management, maintaining alignment between your postings and requisitions will be important for good data hygiene.

What are job postings and requisitions?

When it comes to postings and requisitions, it can be helpful to think of them as two sides of the same coin. Both objects hold information relevant to the roles for which you are hiring. The key difference between the two is:

Job postings hold all external details about a role that are meant to be seen by candidates, such as the job description, application questions, and information about your organization.

Requisitions hold all internal details about job postings that are relevant to your organization's personnel and financial plans, such as headcount, compensation bands, and equity.

The connection between a posting and a requisition coalesces when it comes time to hire a candidate (in association with a posting) by extending an offer built in accord with parameters defined on the requisition.

The relationship between job postings and requisitions

Postings and requisitions are both managed from the Jobs section in your Lever environment. If your Lever package supports requisition management, you will see a Requisitions tab at the top of the left-side navigation column (alongside the Postings tab). Use these tabs to toggle between managing your postings and requisitions.

Once a job posting has been published you can connect it to an open requisition by clicking the + Add requisition button in the lower-right corner of the posting editor. As candidates are hired against the posting, they will be counted toward the headcount of the linked requisition.

Postings and requisitions do not have to have a 1-to-1 relationship. A single requisition can be connected to multiple postings - a common arrangement for postings in multiple locations connected to a shared headcount. A single posting can also be connected to multiple requisitions, to allow for scenarios where there is flexibility on the hiring level for the role.
