Lever's job posting approval functionality allows you to efficiently attain stakeholder alignment before publishing postings. Customizable workflows enable you to tailor the approval process to accommodate any unique processes and circumstances your recruitment team contends with when drafting postings. How to request job posting approval
If a job posting requires approval, the approval request will be sent as the third step in the posting creation process. For information on the prior two steps, refer to the following help articles:
At the 'Approval' step, you will see a summary of the approvers in the approval chain and will be prompted to submit an approval request.
If the approval chain contains a custom approver, you must select an approver to which to submit the request. To learn how custom approvers are added to approval chains, check out our help article on building job posting approval workflows.
Before submitting the request, note that you have the ability to attach a message your request. Click the Request Approval button to send the approval request to the first approver in the sequence.
The posting will not open until it has been approved by each approver in the workflow. If a posting requires approval from multiple approvers, you can monitor how far down the approval chain the posting has advanced on the 'Approval' page of the posting editor.
If a posting approval request has stalled due to the absence of an approver or needs to be expedited, users with Super Admin access can approve or deny a request on another approver's behalf. To do so, the Super Admin must open the 'Approval' page of the posting and click Make decision next to the name of the approver they wish to override.
The Super Admin will be required to input a reason for their action in order to proceed to complete the override. The original approver will be notified via email if a Super Admin makes a decision on their behalf and the action will be reflected on the posting's approval history.
Once a posting has been approved by all approvers in the chain it will move directly to the appropriate category (External, Internal, and/or Unlisted) in the 'Open jobs' section of the postings dashboard in accord with the job posting distribution you specified when creating the posting. The approval will be recorded in the approval history, visible in the posting editor.
Which postings are subject to approval?
If you have a default posting approval workflow enabled in your Lever environment, all drafted postings will be subject that workflow.
Lever also supports the ability to create custom posting approval workflows. If a posting meets the criteria for more than one custom approval workflow, the posting will be subject to the workflow for which it most closely matches the criteria.

Approving and rejecting job postings
There are two ways to approve or reject a posting approval request:
Each individual in the approval chain will receive an email prompting them to approve or reject the proposed posting. Below is close-up of what an approval request email looks like. Note that, although not shown in the image, the email also contains all relevant posting details and description fields.
If the approver has the necessary level of access in Lever, they will have the ability to approve or reject the posting by opening the posting editor and navigating to the 'Approval' page.

Locating approved and rejected job postings
Rejected job postings can be located by clicking the Rejected filter in the lefthand sidebar of the postings dashboard. In the posting editor, the creator of the job posting will see the reason the posting was rejected. They can then implement changes addressing the reason for rejection before discarding the prior approval and submitting a new request for approval.
Approved job postings will move directly to the appropriate category (External, Internal, and/or Unlisted) in the 'Open jobs' section of the postings dashboard in accord with the job posting distribution you specified when creating the posting. The approval will be recorded in the approval history, visible in the posting editor. Once approved, you can take further actions with the posting such as adding it to a job board or associating it with a requisition.
