The Lever and Sterling Direct integration will allow you to send Sterling background checks directly from Lever. This article will cover how to enable and use the integration.
Setup the integration:
Note: Access role must be Super Admin in order to set up the integration.
In order to enable the integration, reach out to your Sterling contact and they will help you through the process. Ultimately, you'll click through an enablement process that requests the following permissions. Click accept to authorize the connection between Lever and Sterling.
The integration will also configure a stage change webhook for you, you'll need to navigate to your webhook settings within Lever to ensure it's enabled. If not, toggle the switch on the left to enable it.
Lastly, you'll need to specify with your Sterling contact on the appropriate 'trigger' stage for the integration. This will be the pipeline stage within your Lever pipeline that will trigger the Sterling integration to send a background check.
You're now ready to use the integration!
How to use the integration:
The integration will determine which Sterling package to use based on the tags on the opportunity. These tag names must match the package names that you have in Sterling -- a list of these packages names will be provided to you by your Sterling contact. In the example below, we have a package named "CrimPackage" tagged onto the candidate's opportunity.
Additionally, you can help mitigate the need to manually tag opportunities by simply tagging a job posting with the appropriate package name -- see the "CrimPackage" name tagged onto the job below. This is a useful optimization if you're sending the same package for any candidate tied to this specific job posting.
In order to trigger the integration, simply have the opportunity tagged with the appropriate package and move them into the designated trigger stage. If you don't currently have a stage for background checks, submit a Lever Support ticket and we add one for you.
The candidate will receive an email notification regarding the request, in which they will fill in all appropriate information within the Sterling interface. Once the check in completed, a note will be added to Lever with a link back to the report. You'll see other notes that correspond to the progress of the check/integration as well.
How to disable the integration:
1. Navigate to your Integrations & API Settings Page in Lever
2. Under the Authorized Apps tab locate the Sterling Direct app
3. Click Revoke Access to disable the integration
