Drilling down unpacks the events, measurements, and objects in a data set that make up values on a Visual Insights dashboard. Drill downs provide you with more a granular level of insight and allow you to take action on relevant opportunities, postings, and requisitions while reviewing your in-app analytics. Drilling into chart values
To drill into a value, click the value or data point on the chart. A sub-window will appear with a table containing the records for the opportunities, postings, or requisitions to which the events, measurements, or objects contributing to the drilled value are associated.
The records listed in drill down tables reflect any filters that have been applied to the dashboard. For example, consider the image below in which the date range filter 'is in the last 90 days' and the posting filter 'is Associate Product Manager' have been applied.
Clicking the 'Offer' column on the 'Pipeline snapshot' column chart brings up a drill down table containing records for candidates associated with opportunities for the Associate Product Manager posting that have been active within the last 90 days.
Note that it is not possible to drill down on the following charts:

Using drill down tables
This section will cover how records are organized on drill down tables as well as the actions you can take with the columns in a drill down table to optimize your view.
Drill down table structure
Each row in a drill down table corresponds to a single record associated with at least one event, measurement or object in the data set contributing to the corresponding value on the chart.
- Discrepancies between chart values and the number of records in a drill down table
- For charts on which the visualized data pertains to an object's change in status, the number of records on the drill down table may not match the number of events visualized on the chart. This is because the chart visualizes the events while the drill down table lists the unique objects associated with those events. For example, if the 'Requisitions events over time' chart shows a total of eight requisitions closed over the course of a date interval, but the drill down table for that chart value only shows four records, it means that those four requisitions had their status changed to 'Closed' a total of eight times over the course of the date interval.
Clicking the name of a candidate, posting, or requisition that appears in a drill down table will open the respective candidate profile, posting, or requisition in a new browser tab.
||If a record is listed as 'Anonymized' in the Contact name column, it means that the candidate for the associated opportunity has had their personal information deleted in accord with GDPR compliance. The data associated with the opportunity still contributes to the chart value, minus any personally identifiable information.|
Records are organized in the table alphabetically by name. Drill down tables can list a maximum of 500 records. If the value you selected on the chart is comprised of data from more than 500 records, a warning message will appear at the top of the drill down table notifying you that the row limit on the table has been reached.
To view records outside of the first 500, you must download the data from the drill down table. To learn how to do this, refer to the instructions on how to download data from drill down tables included below. You can take a number of actions with the columns in a drill down table to optimize your view of the records.
Most actions can be taken via the Column Options menu accessed via the ⠇icon in the column header.
- Columns in a drill down table can be rearranged by clicking and dragging the column headers into the desired order.
- Columns can be manually resized by hovering over the border line between two column headers until the cursor changes to the ↔ icon, after which you can click and drag the border horizontally to adjust the column to the desired width. To adjust all column widths so that all cell contents fit on a single line, click the ⠇ icon in any column header and select Autosize all columns. To undo all manual resizing, click the ⠇ icon in any column header and select Reset all column widths.
- Freezing a column will align that column farthest left on the drill down table, and keep it pinned in place as you side scroll within the sub-window. If multiple columns are frozen, they will be organized relative to the order in which they appeared on the table before they were frozen. To freeze a column, click the ⠇icon in the column header and select Freeze.
- Copying values
- To copy all of the values of the cell in a column, click the ⠇icon in the column header and select Copy values. You can then paste the values from the column into another spreadsheet or document outside of Lever.
Downloading data from drill down tables
To download the data from a drill down table, click the Download button in the upper-right corner of the sub-window.
In the modal that appears, select the desired file format for the download and click the Download button in the lower-right of the modal.
||If you select the .html file format, you will not be able to view data breakdowns by clicking into values on the downloaded file. As a best practice, we advise against downloading data in .html, .json, and markdown file formats unless you have a development team at your organization available to assist with manipulation of the file.|
Recall that drill down tables can list a maximum of 500 records. If the value you selected on the chart is comprised of data from more than 500 records, and you wish to download data from all records that comprise that value, follow these instructions before clicking the Download button in the modal:
- Click ▸ Advanced data options
- Note: This button will not appear if you have selected the PNG file format for the download
- Select the All results option under the Number of rows to include header
