With Lever's 2024 Spring update, confidential data, such as postings and opportunities, are now included in Data Explorer reports. Users with specific permissions granted for confidential postings and profiles will be able to see related confidential data in Data Explorer. To learn more, refer to our Spring 2024 Product Release page.

Data fields are used to compose your dashboard charts in Visual Insights. The Data Explorer gives you the ability to pull fields from a data set into a chart that you can then filter and/or pivot to visualize the insights you wish to see. This article lists all data fields available in the EEO Non-anonymized data set.

Read on to learn about the differences between the types and groups of data fields listed below. Given the large number of available data fields, we recommend using a keyword search on this webpage (Mac: ⌘ + F  || Windows: Ctrl + F ) to locate fields in the data fields table.

For instructions on how you can use the data fields in the EEO Non-anonymized data set to build custom charts, refer to our help article on how to use the Data Explorer to build custom charts.

Understanding data fields

Data fields are organized by type and group in the picker. There are also functional considerations to keep in mind when including certain data fields in a custom chart. This section provides an overview of data field types, groups, and functional considerations.

Types of data fields

There are three data field types you can select from when building a custom chart:

Dimensions
Dimensions are fields for non-aggregate data. Dimensions consist of a single data point.
Measures
Measures are fields for aggregate data, such as counts, sums, and averages.
Filter-only fields
Nearly all dimensions can be used as filters. However, some fields can only be used as filters. These fields typically have logic related to advanced features.

Data field groups

In the EEO Non-anonymized data set, data fields are organized into the following groups:

Common attributes
The most commonly used data fields when building custom charts. They appear at the top of the picker for easy access.
Conditions
Typically used as filters to select a subset of records (e.g. Opportunities with the condition 'is hired.')
Dates and durations
Local time and dates. Data fields in this group will read from the local time zone set in your Lever environment. This group includes a 'duration' subgroup that can be used to calculate the amount of time between two dates.
People
Data pertaining to role players in your Lever environment such as the names and email addresses of hiring managers, opportunity owners, etc.
Other attributes
This group consists of less commonly used fields. They have been grouped together in order to declutter the picker.
Dynamic date formats
This group contains a dynamic date interval filter-only field that allows you to show selected date dimensions in weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly increments.
Static date formats
Local dates and times displayed in predefined formats (millisecond, minute, week, month, quarter, or year).
Ids
The data fields in this group consist of the database ids for objects and events in your Lever environment (e.g. an opportunity_id). These data fields are typically used for reports that are meant to be downloaded.
UTC static date formats
Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) dates and times displayed in predefined formats (millisecond, minute, week, month, quarter, year).

Functional considerations

Some data fields exhibit unique behaviour when added to a custom chart. Look for the following signifiers when adding data fields to understand how they will display in your report:

Summary lists
If a data field has '(list)' appended to the end of its name, it means that if the field returns multiple results when the report is run, those results will be contained in single cell as a comma-separated list. For example, if a 'Opportunity sources (list)' data field is added to a chart visualized as a table, opportunities with multiple sources will have them listed in a single cell with each source separated by a comma.
Hyperlinks
If a data field has '(hyperlink)' appended to the end of its name, it means that results in this field will be clickable. Clicking the result will bring you to the corresponding item in your Lever environment. For example, if a 'Posting title (hyperlink)' field is added to a chart, clicking a posting title in the resulting chart will open that posting in Lever (in a new browser tab). User access permissions will be enforced when an item is clicked (i.e. if a user clicks the hyperlink for an item they do not have access to, Lever will prevent them from seeing it).
