Job posting templates can be used by your recruitment team to build job postings, helping you maintain the consistency and efficiency of the creation process. You can set up standardized text paragraphs to apply to all job postings, or you can set up opening and closing sections that are based on departments, teams, locations, or combinations. For more information on the posting creation process, refer to our help article on creating and managing job postings.

Creating defaults for all postings

To create posting templates, navigate to Settings > Job Site > Posting Templates.

Lever settings page with arrows pointing to job site in left hand menu and posting templates tab.

  • Click the Add defaults for all postings button.

Lever job posting templates settings page with add defaults for all postings button outlined.

  • Fill in the opening and closing text fields.
    • If you want to set a template for an opening paragraph but not a closing (or vice versa), you can check the box "Select if you want to let each posting have its own opening/closing".

  • When you’re satisfied with a given job posting template, click Create to proceed.

Upon clicking the button, you’ll be shown the number of postings that the template will be applied to - you can view all of those postings in a new window by clicking the Show postings link. To confirm and save your changes to a template, click the new Add opening and closing button within the confirmation window.

Creating templates for a specific department/team

To add a template for a specific group of postings, click Add template for a specific dept/team.

Lever job posting templates settings page with arrow pointing to the add template for a specific dept/team link.

  • Choose the Department/team and Location, and fill in the opening and closing text boxes.
    • You have the option to leave either the Department/team as "All Dept/teams" or the Location as "All locations", but not both at the same time.
    • If you want to set a template for an opening paragraph but not a closing (or vice versa), you can check the box "Select if you want to let each posting have its own opening/closing".
  • Click Create.

Lever add new template for... editor with arrows pointing to the department/team and location menus and opening and closing text fields.

Note that a template for a specific team within a department will take priority over a template for an entire department in a specific location. For example, you might have one template for the Design team within the Product department and one template for the Product department in San Francisco. Your job posting for a Product Designer in San Francisco will use the Product - Design template as opposed to the Product in San Francisco template.

Using job posting templates

Whenever you or a member of your recruiting team creates or edits a job posting, you’ll see the relevant opening or closing in the job description. You cannot remove or edit the opening or closing templates, but you can add additional information in the text field below.
